Joined 2019, Australia – Having grown up spending a lot of time in the forests of the mid-western United States of America, with Aldo Leopold (the father of wildlife ecology) as one of my childhood heroes, I knew from an early age that I wanted to have a career in which I had a positive impact on the environment. My role at Lightsource bp gives me that in a multitude of different ways.
After spending years in the public sector, I knew I wanted to make the change to working in the renewable energy industry, but finding the right fit was really important to me. I chose Lightsource bp because the companies ethos aligns with my values and I knew that given the company’s drive, together we’d be able to make a material positive impact on the Australian energy market and the larger environment.
On only day four of the role I hopped on a plane to Queensland to run a community workshop for our 210MWp Woolooga Solar Farm project and from the moment I was representing Lightsource bp to the community, I knew I had made the right choice.
In my role I have to wear many different hats in a day, from technical planning specialist, to community liaison officer, to environmental construction manager, so deciding what to wear in the morning can be a bit of a challenge! But I absolutely love the variety, and most importantly, knowing that through my work (no matter what hat I’m wearing) I’m having a positive impact on the business, the communities we operate within and the larger environment.
