The power
of solar

Sustainable, reliable energy

With the current challenges facing our world, the adoption of utility-scale solar power is a critical part in meeting global energy demands and reducing carbon emissions.

Solar power is resilient, reliable, and predictable. As a passive form of technology, it provides local and sustainable electricity that adds security to the world’s energy mix. This, combined with its affordability and reliability during peak electricity demand periods, makes it an ideal energy source.

Land for power, nature, and food

Solar farms are designed with lots of wide-open spaces. This means many opportunities for multi-purpose land management. From sheep grazing and biodiversity initiatives, each project provides opportunity to create additional land use for local benefits.

Solar projects that benefit local communities

Solar farms often have a lifespan of up to 40 years. As a responsible solar developer it’s important for us to be good stewards of the land, and long-term partners of local communities.

Lightsource bp work with various stakeholders when building our solar projects, to make sure they benefit the local community – not just by generating sustainable electricity, but by improving the local ecosystem as well.

We construct our solar farms with a view to improving soil health, fostering biodiversity, and strengthening rural economies. From ecological assessments to community engagement, we do our best to create solar farms that local communities can be proud of.

Benefits of solar power

Item icon

Sustainable energy

Solar helps advance low-carbon energy, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.

Item icon

Affordable

Solar is the cheapest form of electricity in history, as stated by the International Energy Agency (IEA).

Item icon

Reliable financial returns

Utility-scale solar offers predictable, long-dated financial returns.

Item icon

Empower local economies

Solar farms create local jobs, contribute property tax revenue, and provide dependable revenue to landowners to supplement farm income.

Item icon

Low noise or visual impact

Solar arrays are only 2.75m high, don’t emit any noise beyond the site boundaries, and require minimal maintenance.

Item icon

Encourage wildlife and biodiversity

Through environmental impact assessments and land management, solar farms can be designed to enhance habitats and increase biodiversity.
