The Goulburn River project consists of a 550MWdc solar farm and battery energy storage system (BESS), located between Wollar and Merriwa, on Wollara Road, in the Upper Hunter Region of NSW.

Lightsource bp will construct and operate the project and deliver renewable energy to Australia’s grid. Additionally, the project includes a BESS to shift renewable energy to night-time peaks and support the reliable operation of Australia’s grid. The project will also include operation and maintenance buildings, civil works, and electrical infrastructure required to connect to the existing electricity network. Construction is set to begin late 2023, and the project will provide up to 350 FTE construction roles throughout the construction process.

We’re in the early stages of this project and are sharing our plans with local residents and the surrounding community to gather their feedback on the land we have identified. Following this engagement, we will conclude a range of detailed assessments, before undertaking the statutory pre submission consultation.

We will be hosting community information drop-in sessions across two days to provide an informal and flexible forum for asking questions, providing feedback and gathering information about the Goulburn River Solar Farm.

Come along to meet the Lightsource bp project team and assessment experts from Umwelt Environmental and Social consultants, including transport, engineering and planning specialists.

‘Drop-in’ at any time throughout the time slots and stay for as long as you like.

The drop-in sessions will take place at the School of Arts Hall, 15 Bow Street, Merriwa, on:

  • Monday 5 December 2022 – 4pm to 7pm
  • Tuesday 6 December 2022 – 7am to 10am
