The Goulburn River project consists of a 520MWdc solar farm and battery energy storage system (BESS), located between Wollar and Merriwa, on Wollara Road, in the Upper Hunter Region of NSW.

Lightsource bp will construct and operate the project and deliver renewable energy to Australia’s grid. Additionally, the project includes a BESS to shift renewable energy to night-time peaks and support the reliable operation of Australia’s grid. The project will also include operation and maintenance buildings, civil works, and electrical infrastructure required to connect to the existing electricity network. Construction set to begin mid 2023; the project will provide up to 350 FTE construction roles throughout the construction process.

We’re in the early stages of this project and are sharing our plans with local residents and the surrounding community to gather their feedback on the land we have identified. Following this engagement, we will conclude a range of detailed assessments, before undertaking the statutory pre submission consultation.

Safety is one of our core values, and in order to keep to the standards of community engagement that we’ve set as a company in the current global situation, we’ve replaced our physical community consultation with two virtual events. One took place on October 28th 2021, 5:30-6:30pm (NSW, Australia) and the second event took place October 30th 2021,  3-4pm (NSW, Australia), we hosted an online video presentation, followed by a live Q&A session.

You can view the pre-recorded presentation in the video towards the bottom of this page, you can also view our community information leaflet via the button below.
