In April 2019 the municipality of Sluis launched a request for proposals for the development of two solar farms in Breskens and Schoondijke. The bid was for two plots of land previously used for businesses, in the Deltahoek area in Breskens (2 hectares) and the Technopark area in Schoondijke (2.1 hectares).

In May 2019 Lightsource BP submitted a proposal for the development, construction, operation and management of the Technopark Solar Farm, including a landscape fitting plan and possibilities for financial participation. On July 17th, 2019 the College of Mayor and Aldermen announced that Lightsource BP was selected to develop the Technopark Solar Farm.

Our proposal is based on the results of research regarding ecology, archaeology and landscape values. The landscape and planting plans consider the local landscape, existing recreational usages, natural patterns, visual impacts and biodiversity.
