In November 2018, we announced the beginning of our first major partnership in the Australian energy market – a successful bid to provide renewable energy to Snowy Hydro via a solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Solar on the NEM

Snowy Hydro is the fourth largest energy retailer in the Australian National Electricity Market, a government-owned entity who own, operate and maintain the 4.1GW Snowy Mountains hydro scheme. Our project is a 200MW solar installation in New South Wales, which is expected to be operational in early 2020, and will provide Snowy Hydro with green, renewable electricity. We’re funding, developing, constructing and maintaining the project, which will form the basis of a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Beating the competition

Our bid was one of six projects to win the tender, which was part of Snowy Hydro’s recently announced intention to procure a further 800MW of renewable energy via PPAs, with a proposed 50:50 split between solar and wind.
