In November 2018, Lightsource BP signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Continental Divide Electric Coop (CDEC), a not-for-profit, member-owned electric distribution co-op in New Mexico. CDEC provides service to about 24,130 meters throughout Cibola and parts of McKinley, Sandoval, Bernalillo and Valencia counties.
Under the agreement, Lightsource will finance, build, and operate 9 megawatts of solar across two locations within CDEC’s service territory. CDEC will purchase all the electricity under the 25-year PPA., allowing them to provide their customers with clean, affordable energy.
The solar farms, called Grants Solar and Bluewater Solar, support CDEC’s renewable energy and carbon reduction goals. They will generate enough clean, affordable energy to cover the equivalent annual electricity needs of 1,700 homes in New Mexico.
