In Feb 2018, Lightsource BP signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Mid-Kansas Electric Company to build Johnson Corner Solar, soon to become the largest solar project in Kansas. Lightsource BP will build, own and operate the 20-megawatt project with construction scheduled to commence early 2019.
Mid-Kansas Electric Company is a cooperative utility with a mission to pursue reliable, affordable power solutions to serve the rural communities of central and western Kansas. In addition to providing clean on-peak energy for the utility, Johnson Corner Solar will reduce loading on a transmission line that is nearing capacity, saving costs by deferring or ultimately canceling the requirement for costly infrastructure upgrades.
